Boy with Autism's Dream of Becoming a Plumber Comes True

A 12-year-old with autism who lives in Orchard Park, NY, had a dream come true recently when he was made an honorary plumber for a day.
Lucas Guzzino lives and breathes plumbing. "The exciting part is repairing toilets or faucets," Lucas told WGRZ.com.
"How-to books on plumbing would be his leisure reading, and that's what he would take on long car trips," Lucas's mother, Pam told WGRZ. "He got a Black and Decker plumbing book for Christmas and it came with a DVD, and that was his favorite DVD," Lucas' father Dave said.
A retired business agent for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union (U.A. Local 22), Sean Edwards, heard about Lucas and invited him to the Union for the day, where he received a box of tools, clothes, a coffee mug and a tour of the facility.
"He knows waste lines from water lines. I understand he's replaced his uncle's toilet. He's well on his way to be a service plumber or whatever he wants to be," Edwards said.
He hopes to one day return and learn the trade as an adult.
